George Wittemyer finds the positive in tragic elephant conservation research

In this feature story, I highlighted Colorado State University’s George Wittemyer, now a professor in the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology. He has studied elephants and the effects of poaching on them since he was an undergraduate at Colorado College in the 1990s. One of the interesting and sweet things that he shared with me is that he names the elephants he studies after flowers, first ladies and poets.
