Dr. Niccole Bruno is the CEO and founder of blendvet, a veterinary certification program in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. An Afro-Latina who grew up in New York City, Bruno said she rarely saw veterinarians who looked like her when she was growing up. Her mom helped find volunteer opportunities for her daughter, but Bruno said she still felt like an outsider.
In this interview, she described how she found mentors, lost faith in the veterinary profession and then found it again by focusing on diversity as a leader in veterinary medicine. Bruno currently lives in Houston, Texas.
